Description: This data layer depicts areas of soils as described in ORS 215.710(4) and OAR 660-033-0020(8). These soils make up part of the definition of "high-value farmland" in ORS 195.300(10)(a) andOregon Laws 2007 Chapter 424 (Ballot Measure 49). Features in this layer represent areas classified as "coastal" and represent areas of high-value farmland for dairy operations. This summary layer was created by merging NRCS SSURGO soils shapefiles downloaded in 2007 and modified by the Oregon Department of Agriculture. The only attribute kept is hvfl_soil which is based on hvfl_final with the soil mapunit removed.OAR 660-033-0020(8):(d) In addition to that land described in subsection (a) of this section, high-value farmland, if west of the summit of the Coast Range and used in conjunction with a dairy operation on January 1, 1993, includes tracts composed predominantly of the following soils in Class III or IV or composed predominantly of a combination of the soils described in subsection (a) of this section and the following soils:(A) Subclassification IIIe, specifically, Astoria, Hembre, Knappa, Meda, Quillayutte and Winema;(B) Subclassification IIIw, specifically, Brenner and Chitwood;(C) Subclassification IVe, specifically, Astoria, Hembre, Meda, Nehalem, Neskowin and Winema; and(D) Subclassification IVw, specifically, Coquille.<br>(ODA, 2007)
