Description: These data depict the habitat areas addressed in the NMFS' final rule to designate critical habitat under the U.S. Endangered Species Act (ESA) for Puget Sound Steelhead (81 FR 9252, February 24, 2016). The data include not only the stream segments designated as critical habitat, but also the stream segments occupied by the species and NOT designated as critical habitat (i.e., deemed ineligible for ESA critical habitat designation or excluded from designation). Habitat areas were identified based on observation by, or the professional judgment of, federal, state, and tribal biologists. These areas were identified based on the best available information but users should contact the WDNR to determine where stream segments have site-specific overlap with theses HCPs.
